Road closures and restrictions for August 18-22
Saturday, 16 August 2008

The Bellingham Public Works Department wishes to inform the public that the following roads will have traffic limitations during the week August 18 through 22, 2008 to accommodate construction.

Northshore Drive

Interwest Construction, Inc., under a contract with the City of Bellingham, will continue work installing storm water facilities, sidewalks and bike lanes on Northshore Avenue between Alabama Street and Britton Road. Traffic will be diverted by flaggers or detoured around the work between the hours of 7 am and 5 pm. Drivers may experience significant delays and are encouraged to use Barkley Boulevard as an alternate route until further notice. For more information about this project visit the city's website Northshore Drive Roadway and Drainage Improvements or 778-7900.

Annual Sidewalk Replacement

Connecticut Street

Schwetz Construction, under a contract with the City of Bellingham, will be replacing the sidewalks at various locations on Broadway Street between N. Park Drive and Irving Street, and will be installing wheelchair ramps at the corner of Cornwall Avenue at Texas Street. Pedestrians may be required to change their route while sidewalks, curbs and gutters are being poured and are curing. In addition, automobile traffic may be diverted by flaggers when cement trucks are in the work area. For more information about this project, contact Project Manager Sam Shipp at 778-7900.

Sewer Rehabilitation Project

F Street, N. Forest Street and Squalicum Way

Ram Construction, under contract with the City of Bellingham, will be cleaning sewer mains, to prepare them for Insituform Technologies to install cured-in-place sanitary sewer lining. The work will take place on F Street from Holly Street to Cornwall Avenue, N. Forest Street from Rose Street to Ellis Street, and on Squalicum Way west of Roeder Avenue. Drivers will be required to navigate around a box van at these locations and are advised to use extreme caution when yielding to oncoming cars. For more information regarding the sewer rehabilitation project, please contact Project Manager Mark Handzlik at 778-7900.

The City of Bellingham Public Works Department provides this information as a public service. It is based on currently available information. Motorists are reminded that weather and road conditions can change rapidly and should plan accordingly.
