Northwest roundabout almost finished
Wednesday, 21 July 2010

Crews opened the I-5 on- and off-ramps (Exit 257) and Northwest Avenue from Bakerview Road south to the southbound I-5 off-ramp at the end of the work day Tuesday, July 20. Flaggers will continue to direct traffic through single lane closures along Northwest Avenue for the next couple of weeks, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, as crews complete landscaping and restoration. Northwest from Sterling Drive to the southbound I-5 off-ramp was closed for about two weeks to expedite construction of the roundabout, pedestrian and bicycle improvements.

The City of Bellingham thanks motorists for their patience and requests that those familiar with the area continue using alternate routes. Drivers can expect delays.

“We are very pleased with the progress we have made,” said Project Engineer Mark Handzlik. “Construction continues on schedule.”
