Ragnar Relay Northwest Passage Race

The inaugural Ragnar Relay Northwest Passage will begin Friday July 26th at 8 a.m. in Blaine at Marine Park.

Twelve man relay teams will race 185 miles from Blaine to Langley on the southern tip of Whidbey Island. Each runner on the team will run 3 legs ranging between 3 to 8 miles.

The Ragnar Relay Series began in 2006 and now includes the Ragnar Relay Wasatch Back (Utah), Ragnar Relay Great River (Minnesota/Wisconsin), Ragnar Relay Northwest Passage (Washington State), and the Ragnar Relay Del Sol (Arizona).

Racers will be on the shoulders of roads in Whatcom and Skagit counties continuously from 8 a.m. Friday, July 25 to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 26.

The following roads will be affected:

Whatcom County
  • SR 548 - Marine Drive to Blaine Road; Grandview Road to Portal Way
  • SR 11 - Donovan Ave to I-5
  • I-5 right-of-way - Exit 250

Skagit County

  • I-5 right-of-way - Colony Road
  • SR 11 - Colony Road to Bow Hill Road
  • SR 536 - W Gates St. to South Ball St.
  • SR 20 - Fairhaven Ave; Padilla Heights Road; Rosario to Ducken Roads; East Whidbey Ave; Libbey Road to Madrona Way; Engle Road to Keystone Ave.
  • SR 20 spur - D Ave to Sunset Ave.
  • SR 525 - Admirals Drive to Smugglers Cove Road; Bush Point Road; Scott Road to Bayview Road
